Abstract
The article considers current global trends in the organization and methodology of research on the problems of education management. Awareness of these trends, taking them into account in the organization of domestic research activities is
an important condition for the development of methodological knowledge and effectiveness of domestic research in the field
of education management and integration of domestic science into the world scientific space.
The trend in research methodology in the world practice regarding the development and use of various types of research
strategies by scientists, careful justification of the methodology and description of methods for obtaining and processing research
results is revealed. The essence of the philosophical paradigms of the twentieth century, on which modern methodological
paradigms are grouped, is revealed. Radical-humanistic, radical-structuralist, functionalist and interpretive methodological
paradigms used in world research practice are characterized. It is determined that a holistic and multifaceted understanding
of social phenomena, which includes education management, requires the recognition and application of a multi-paradigm
approach to research, which is relevant for the analysis of education management problems. The division of scientific disciplines
accepted in the United States into four categories into exact / social sciences and theoretical / applied sciences is presented.
The characteristics of the groups of these disciplines determine the focus of the topic, methodological strategies and research
methods. The features of the direction of research in applied social sciences, which include education management, are outlined.
It is found that understanding the applied significance of pedagogy and education management determines the spread of case
studies. It also reveals the spread of world practice in the implementation of comparative studies of the problems of managing
educational systems in other countries.
